North
India refers to the set of states located on the
non peninsular region of the republic of India. It includes
Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Uttaranchal, Himachal Pradesh,
Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh. This region witnessed the evolution
of Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism. The sacred rivers Ganga,
Brahmaputra and Yamuna along with numerous other rivers originate
from the North. The Himalayas stretching from Himachal Pradesh
to Arunachal Pradesh cut India off from the rest of Asia and
safeguard the country.

Himalayas:

as gompas, are located in the hills and mountains. Buddhist
monks and nuns live, study and practise their faith in these
monasteries.It is said that only in Ladakh can a man sitting
in the sun with his feet in the shade suffer from sunstroke
and frostbite at the same time!
